約翰福音第十七章，是「大祭司的禱告」，也是「良人的禱告」，傾訴了阿爸和主的愛願，也有七次提到我們是阿爸賜給祂的人。
「七次？怎樣我只找到五次？」有人問。
對，和合本只出現了五次。
約十七2：「正如祢曾賜給祂權柄管理凡有血氣的，叫祂將永生賜給祢所賜給祂的人。」
約十七6：「祢從世上賜給我的人，我已將祢的名顯明與他們。他們本是祢的，祢將他們賜給我，他們也遵守了祢的道。」
約十七9：「我為他們祈求，不為世人祈求，卻為祢所賜給我的人祈求，因他們本是祢的。」
約十七24：「父啊，我在哪裡，願祢所賜給我的人也同我在那裡，叫他們看見祢所賜給我的榮耀；因為創立世界以前，祢已經愛我了。」
另外兩次，原來在第11和12節。這次，幾個譯本一併去讀。
約十七11：「從今以後，我不在世上，他們卻在世上；我往祢那裡去。聖父啊，求祢因祢所賜給我的名保守他們，叫他們合而為一像我們一樣。」
ESV: “And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.”
NKJV: “Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.”
YLT: “and no more am I in the world, and these are in the world, and I come unto Thee. Holy Father, keep them in Thy name, whom Thou hast given to me, that they may be one as we;”
約十七12：「我與他們同在的時候，因祢所賜給我的名保守了他們，我也護衛了他們；其中除了那滅亡之子，沒有一個滅亡的，好叫經上的話得應驗。」
ESV: “While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.”
NKJV: “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept;[c] and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.”
YLT: “when I was with them in the world, I was keeping them in Thy name; those whom Thou hast given to me I did guard, and none of them was destroyed, except the son of the destruction, that the Writing may be fulfilled.”
這兩節聖經，和合本譯作「祢所賜給我的名」，而不是「祢所賜給我的人」，因為英文譯本，有些譯作which，有些則譯作those。至於中文聖經，新漢語譯本的註釋中，提到有古抄本作「求祢保守祢所賜給我的那些人」或「求祢用祢的名保守祢所賜給我的人」，意思就是「祢所賜給我的人，我保守他們在祢的名裡面」。
很寶貴，遠從亙古，父、子、聖靈已無限相愛，有相同的愛夢，彼此都想把最好的給對方。父要把我們賜給祂愛子；主決心把我們帶到父面前，甚至願意把自己賜給我們。父、子、聖靈知道我們會犯罪，父竟差愛子成為人，甚至為我們死。今天，主已衝過死亡，更住在我們心中，與我們有至深愛的聯合！祂要向我們指示父（詩二二22、約十七26），使我們能享受阿爸的愛，又保守我們在父的名裡，活在阿爸待我的真相中，以致一個也不失落（約六37, 39, 40、十28-30、十八9；來二12-13）。
